Final Site Survey Completed for 4th Railway Line Between Tambaram and Chengalpattu

The final site survey for the much-awaited 4th railway line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu has been successfully completed. This new line is expected to significantly improve train operations in the Chennai suburban section.
Once completed, the 4th line will enable Southern Railway to operate additional electric and express trains, easing congestion on one of the busiest stretches in the Chennai division.
The project, estimated to cost ₹713.4 crore, is a key infrastructure initiative under Southern Railway’s network expansion plans.
