For the TNPSC Group 2 Exams yesterday, nearly 5.5lakh candidates appeared!!

In Chennai, Sherwood Hall School was very busy with activities yesterday. Here, TNPSC or Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission exams were held.

There are just 645 government posts available across TN and for that as many as 5.5 lakhs candidates appeared for TNPSC Group 2 exams yesterday. It must be taken into note that these posts include revenue inspector, audit inspector and forest inspector etc.

In the state of TN in as many as1905 centres, the Group 2 Combined Civil services Exam took place for both interview and for non-interview posts. Information gathered is that a total of 447421 candidates appeared for General Tamil as the compulsory paper. General English was chosen by as many as 106213 candidates. Point is that the TN is hiring as many as 458 staff as office assistants, 65 as senior inspectors, 40 as senior revenue inspectors and 22 forest officers.

Mr. S.K. Prabhakar, chairman of TNPSC made his presence felt at Sherwood Hall School at Chetpet in Chennai yesterday. He spoke about how a large monitoring team was deployed for smooth conduct of TNPSC exams. Point is that flying squads headed by sub-collectors have been formed. It is noteworthy that each exam centre has been assigned an inspector officer nominated by the district collector`s office. Chief invigilators and hall invigilators were present one for every 20 students to prevent any malpractice etc. The results of TNPSC Group 2 exams would be announced in 3 months.

In recent times, TNPSC exams have come under scrutiny for malpractices, translation errors etc. Point is that the subject experts were asked to check the question papers to avoid any mishaps. Across all 4 groups, TNPSC gets around 15000 vacancies every year. It is now said that vacancies in 9725 posts would be filled up soon.
