Many people travel in the trains for long distances as they find that train travel comfortable and affordable.

A decision has been taken by the Railways regarding the passenger`s safe travel. Now, the minister for Railways Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav has mentioned that CCTV cameras must be installed inside the coaches to ensure safe travel.

It was brought out by a statement from the Railway Administration that based on the installation of CCTV cameras in the trail and the appreciation received from the passengers the Railways have decided to install CCTV cameras inside the train coaches. By the installation of CCTV cameras inside the train coaches, incidents of frauds would be reduced significantly. The CCTV cameras would be installed in a common operating area near the doors.

It must be taken into account that the Railways minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav and minister of state for Railways Mr.  Ravneet Singh Bittu viewed the work progress of installing CCTV cameras in train engines and train coaches.

On Saturday, a review meeting took place and many senior officials from Railways attended the meeting. According to some officials it was clear that after a successful trial of installing CCTV cameras inside the coaches of northern Railway the minister for Railways has approved the installation of CCTV cameras in about 74000 train coaches and 15000 locomotives.

It is learnt that in each train coach 4 dome type CCTV cameras would be installed. In every entrance 2 cameras and in every train engine 6 cameras would be installed.  One CCTV camera would be installed in the rear side and one in the front side of the coach. Point is that each coach of the train engine (front and back side) would have 1 dome type CCTV camera and 2 table mounted microphones.

Important piece of information is that these CCTV cameras would be installed in such a manner that high quality visual recordings would be obtained even when the train operates at a speed of 100kmph. The railway authorities have been instructed to explore the use of AI in the CCTV cameras.
