8,350 special buses for Deepavali

The Tamil Nadu Government will would operate as many as 8,350 special buses to enable people to travel to their hometowns for Deepavali. This was ordered by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. She has also ordered the setting up of online reservation systems and special reservation counters to meet the rush, apart from a helpline to lodge complaints about private bus operators who overcharge during the festival rush.

Of the 8,350 special buses, the lion’s share would be aimed at connecting the State capital with all district headquarters and other important cities across the State. As many as 4,300 special buses will be operated from the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT). 

Of these, 700 are scheduled on October 29, 1,000 on October 30, 1,200 on October 31 and 1,400 on November 1.
