Popularity of air-conditioned suburban trains has been increasing in Chennai - Southern Railways!!
In April, the air-conditioned suburban train services were started in the Chennai Beach to Chengalpet via Tambaram route is known to us. The main objective behind operating a/c train is to provide hassle free travel experience for the passengers. Information collected is that the minimum fare was fixed at Rs 35. Those passengers who want to travel from Chennai Beach to Tambaram must pay Rs 85 as the ticket fare and a ticket fare of Rs 105 to Chengalpet.
Previously, in the Mumbai suburban railway, a/c train service was first introduced. Truth is that women and office goers have been benefited by the a/c train services in Mumbai.
Now, the sensational news is that the SR or Southern Railways have revealed that the popularity of a/c suburban train services has been increasing day by day. The public have started to like a/c train services now as they find it comfortable.
It is learnt that in the month of April the average daily passenger count in the a/c train was 1488 and gradually it increased to 2571 in the month of May. In June, the average daily passenger count went up to 2800.
It is superb to note that office goers, students, businessmen, teachers etc have got a useful facility by means of air-conditioned suburban trains. At present, as many as 8 air-conditioned trains are being operated for the sake of passengers. In the coming days, SR has plans to operate additional trains depending on the public demand.
