Established in the year 1926, UPSC or Union Public Services Examination is a constitutional body that is responsible for recruiting officers from All India Services and Central Civil Services by means of standardised examinations. Point is that this examination is usually tough and only those students who have prepared well can succeed.
The sensational news that has come out now is that from the state of Tamil Nadu as many as 723 students have qualified in the civil services examination for the posts like IAS, IPS etc conducted by UPSC.
It is worth mentioning here that from all over India 12 lakh students have applied for this examination. On 25th May 2025, a preliminary written test was conducted and 7lakhs students participated.
Yesterday 11th June, the examination results were announced and as many as 14156 have passed. On 22nd of August, the main examination would be held for these candidates.
It is superb to mention here that out of these 14156 candidates who have passed the preliminary examination 723 are from Tamil Nadu.
It is known that Shankar IAS Academy has been providing superb coaching for the students. The MD of this academy Vaishnavi Shankar mentioned that 963 candidates who have studied at their institutes located in places like Chennai, Delhi, Trivandrum and Bangalore etc have passed out. She added that out of 723 candidates who have passed the preliminary civil services examination as many as 450 candidates have studied at Shankar IAS Academy.
It was brought to light by the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin that those students who have studied at TN Anna Administrative Service College and under the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme have been highly successful and it was unprecedented. He wished the students to come out successful in mains as well as personnel interview etc. He concluded that he was very eager to see the faces of the successful students
