Sudden postponement of SI examination in TN - Details here!!
There are many aspirants who are keen to perform well in the SI or sub-inspector examination. An important piece of information has come out now.
The news is that the SI examination that was supposed to be held on 28th and 29th June has been postponed. More than 3 lakhs have applied for this.
On 4th April 2025, the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board has issued a notification to fill up 1299 posts that includes 933 SI vacancies in the TN police dept and 366 SI vacancies in the Armed Forces dept. The last date for receiving the applications was extended till 3rd of May 2025.
It was announced that those candidates who have applied for the exam would be able to do corrections till 13th of May 2025.Point is that having bachelor`s degree is compulsory for those who are applying for the examination. Graduates with bachelor and master degrees applied for the examination. The total number of applicants went more than 3 lakhs.
In the police department, those working as second level, first level and head constables etc also apply for the inspector examination. These persons would be given 20% quota and the rest 80% would be for general category aspirants.
For those who have joined police dept after the completion of physical fitness exam, only questions related to law & order, physiology would be present. For the general category aspirants, physical exam and written test would be carried out.
In this scenario, the Supreme Court or SC recently made it clear that the seniority would be based on marks obtained in the examination. This has resulted in setbacks to those who were selected on 20% quota. As a result, there was some confusion among the candidates regarding whether the exams would be conducted as a single exam and single mark format for everybody.
In this scenario, the exams have been postponed to 28th June and 29th June according to the order from SC. The dates for the examination would be announced soon and this was as per the The Uniformed Services Selection Board.
