Operation of a special train between Tiruvannamalai & Villupuram on the occasion of Pournami Girivalam!!
Many devotees visit Tiruvannamalai for girivalam on the occasion of Pournami. For these persons, a special train is being operated between Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram. It is known to us that girivalam is Hindu religious practice where the devotees embark on a sacred pilgrimage especially on full moon nights plus also on all weekdays. The Arunachewarar temple present at the base of the Arunachala Hill in Tiruvannamalai is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The devotees walk about 14km around this hill.
According to the press release from the Southern Railways or SR the unreserved special train no 06130 departing from Villupuram at 9:25 am on 10th June 2025 would reach Tiruvannamalai at 11:10am. It is noteworthy that on the same day special train number 06129 departing from Tiruvannamalai at 12:40 pm would reach Villupuram at 2:15 pm.. It added that due to the maintenance works that are being carried out in the Chennai division there would be changes in the express train services.
It was mentioned by SR that Guruvayur express train number No 16127 departing from Chennai Egmore at 10:20 am would depart from Chennai Egmore at 11am on Sunday, 15th June and 22nd June of 40minutes late.
