It is known that a passport is an important document especially for those who want to visit the foreign countries. It is learnt that by using Annexe J the name of the spouse can be included or excluded from the passport. The External Affairs Ministry has introduced an important change in the passport application.

Permission has been issued for applicants who want to include or exclude their spouse name in the passport application and they could use Annex J instead of their marriage certificates.  The main objective behind this is to streamline the application process and to reduce delays etc.

It must be noted that Affix J is a simplified affidavit where the applicants formally declare their marital status and jointly request include or exclude the name of their spouses.  In Annexe J, both parties must put their signature and must fix a self attested joint photograph is known.

In Annexe J, a joint self attested photograph of the couple, full names, addresses, DOB of both the spouses, a clear statement on marital status, Aadhaar number, voter Id and passport number must be filled.

It is noteworthy that after remarriage to add the name of the spouse, the applicants must submit their divorce certificate, death certificate of the former spouse, remarriage certificate, up-dated identity documents etc. It is said that the eligible applicants must avail this reform.

For additional information etc and to download Annexe J, the public must visit the official passport seva website.
