Passengers have been facing issues now in getting their monthly tickets due to the new policy from the Railways dept. It must be noted that as per the new policy of Railways the passengers could get their monthly tickets though UTS app.
Though digital transactions have now become inevitable across India there are many persons who are unaware of it. These persons require help with their digital transactions and online processes.
Many passengers get monthly travel tickets every month for their travel in the trains. Normally, by paying the required amount, the monthly tickets can be obtained by the passengers at the railway stations itself. Now, many passengers have been finding it difficult to obtain passenger tickets and monthly tickets etc at the railway stations across TN. Point is that the passengers have been asked to obtain their monthly train tickets through an app and they are not issued monthly tickets at the stations.
It must be noted that a passenger who has been travelling for the last 2 years from Thiruvarur (residence) to Thanjavur (place of work) has been asked to get his monthly ticket from the app. The railway employees have made it clear that he could get his monthly ticket only through GPay by using the app and not by paying the amount at the railway station. It must be noted that he tried to download the GPay app but he was told by the railways staff that he could get his monthly ticket only through the UTS app of railways. This has made his life very difficult now.
There are many such incidents of passengers (in places like Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram plus in other places etc) finding it difficult to get their monthly train tickets as they were not allowed to pay the total amount at the railway stations.
It was later explained by a divisional officer from southern railways though Railway dept encourages cash transactions it was not made mandatory. He spoke about how complaints have been received at a few railway stations. He added that instructions have been issued stating cash transactions cannot be avoided at reservations and ticketing centres at the railway stations.
Now, the passengers want instructions to be given at the railway stations regarding cash transactions at the railway stations for getting monthly tickets or for reservations etc as there are many passengers who do not know about digital transactions and usage of apps etc.
