Sudden increase in the omni bus fares now in TN has shocked many passengers!!
Many students etc who have gone to their hometowns for summer vacations are returning back to Chennai now as schools would reopen on 2nd of June. In this scenario, the omni buses have increased their fares from Rs 500 to Rs 1000. This has shocked many passengers now.
It is noteworthy that train bookings are closed now and people who have gone to their hometowns depend on omni buses for their return journey to Chennai. The omni bus owners have taken this to their advantage and have increased the bus fares.
It is learnt that bus fares for a single person from southern places like Madurai, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari to Chennai have increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1500 now. In the same way, bus fares have been increased for the buses coming to Chennai from places like Coimbatore, Tiruppur etc.
According to the officials belonging to the transport department, more than 800 buses are operating for the convenience of those returning to Chennai after the summer vacations. Point is that the seat reservations for govt luxury buses are not yet complete and the public could use that.
Warning has been issued to the omni bus owners regarding this sudden bus fare increase.
