Posted on: 27/May/2025 9:26:35 AM

The public health department has issued some important guidelines now for the SW monsoon.

According to the guidelines, the health workers must be ready to work 24 hours a day at the hospitals and at the primary health centres or PHCs in Tamil Nadu. The emergency medicines, vaccines and sufficient beds must be available in the hospitals. The power must be supplied through generators in case there is any power outage or disruption so that the patients are not affected.

The guidelines have also mentioned that the medical teams must be kept ready at the relief camps. It must be ensured that hygienic food and drinking water are provided at the camps. High risk areas must be identified and health work must be carried out in these areas with the help of a rapid rescue team by supplying essential medicines etc.

It is noteworthy that pregnant women living in the flood prone areas must be admitted into the hospitals before their due date. The flood affected areas must be chlorinated well. Point to be noted is that solid waste and dead animals etc must be disposed of immediately. Facilities must be made to dispose of the dead bodies as soon as possible if there was any loss of lives on a large scale.

The director of health has issued orders to keep the toilets present in the relief camps and hospitals neat and clean. Details regarding fever, diarrhoea and jaundice etc that would happen (just after the monsoon) must be sent to the public health department without fail. In those places where fever cases are high, medical camps must be organised and mobile medical teams must also be sent to these places if required.
