An important piece of information for the electricity consumers across TN!!
The news is that from July month the electrical tariffs are likely to increase by 3.16% across TN.
In TN, there are 3 crores of electrical connections and revenue loss for the EB or electricity board has been increasing. As a result of this loss, the electricity tariffs were increased by more than 30% in TN in 2022. Till 2026-27, electricity tariffs would be increased on 1st of July and the permission for this has been granted by TNERC or Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission. In July 2023, the electricity tariffs were increased by 2.18percent and by 4.83% in July 2024.
In the same manner, the electricity tariffs should be increased by 6% or as per the April months inflation rate whichever is lower. Hence, on 1st July 2025, electricity tariffs would be increased by 3.16% in TN. It is now mentioned that the electricity tariffs would be implemented for houses, commercial establishments and factories etc.
It was mentioned by some officials from EB that the TN govt has signed Uday Min Scheme of the Centre and hence electricity tariffs would be increased every July till 2027.
