Chennai Records 97.39% Pass Rate in CBSE Class 12 Results 2025 – Among Top 3 Regions in India

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially declared the Class 12 Board Exam Results for the year 2025. Among the standout performers, Chennai recorded a pass percentage of 97.39%, placing it firmly in the top three performing regions across India.

Regional Performance Highlights

The region-wise performance shows exceptional results from southern and metro zones. The Vijayawada region topped the country with a 99.60% pass percentage, followed by Trivandrum with 99.32%, and Chennai with 97.39%.

Chandigarh – 91.61%
Panchkula – 91.17%
Pune – 90.93%
Ajmer – 90.40%

Mid-range performers:

Bhubaneswar – 83.64%
Guwahati – 83.62%
Dehradun – 83.45%
Patna – 82.86%
Bhopal – 82.46%

Lowest pass percentages were recorded in:

Noida – 81.29%
Prayagraj – 79.53%

School Category-Wise Performance

Institution-wise performance highlights the academic strength of centrally governed schools:

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs): 99.29%
Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs): 99.05%
Central Tibetan Schools (STSS): 98.96%
Government-aided schools: 91.57%
Government schools: 90.48%
Independent (private) schools: 87.94%

Gender-Wise Performance

Girls have once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 exams. The pass percentage for girls stood at 91.64%, up from 91.52% in 2024, while boys achieved 85.70%, an improvement from 85.12% the previous year. This marks a performance gap of 5.94% in favor of girls.

Notably, the transgender category achieved a 100% pass percentage in 2025, a significant rise from 50% in 2024, reflecting improved inclusivity and academic support.
