On Tuesday, as many as 4 places in TN recorded more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is now clear that the summer is intensifying in Tamil Nadu with each passing day.
In some places, the temperature was 2 degrees higher than normal. It is learnt that the highest and lowest temperature of the day was recorded at Karur Paramathi. It was brought to light by RMC or Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai that the highest temperature was recorded at 4 places like Karur Paramathi, Erode, Madurai Airport and Thanjavur. The mercury was at 102 degrees Fahrenheit in these 4 places. Lowest minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius was recorded in Karur Paramathi yesterday.
On Tuesday, in Chennai, Meenambakkam recorded 36.3 degrees but it appeared that the temperature was more than that. As a result, the residents stayed indoors and the streets were almost deserted during the extreme heat in the noon. There would be no change in the tendency of the temperature for the next 4 days in TN.
The maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 2 degrees to 3 degrees Celsius in the isolated places. Till 26th of April, the humidity would also remain high in a few pockets in TN and Puducherry. This would cause huge discomfort for the people.
It was mentioned by the weathermen that the temperature would be in the range of 36 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius in the interior area of TN. The temperature would be 35 degrees to 36 degrees over the coastal belt and Puducherry and 20 to 28 degrees Celsius over the hilly places. There would be light to moderate rains at some isolated places from 24th to 28th April in TN and Puducherry.
