Northeast monsoon by October 20-24

Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai has mentioned that we can expect the northeast monsoon by October 24. Weathermen expect the SW monsoon to withdraw from TN by October 10 and the main rainy season – northeast monsoon – to set in by October 20-24.
According to data available with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, Tamil Nadu registered one per cent deficit mean rainfall at 31.97 cm for the SW monsoon season (June-September) compared to the normal of 32.14 cm. On the other hand, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 61.6 cm (17.3 cm excess) and 65.9 cm (17.1 cm excess).
