A very Important requirement from the Kannagi Nagar residents in Chennai revealed now!!

On the outskirts of Chennai along the OMR is located TN Urban Habitat Development Board settlement area or Kannagi Nagar. It is noteworthy that many families across Chennai were shifted to Kannagi Nagar. There are about 23700 families here and the total population is about one lakh. At Present, one major requirement from these residents here is the additional corporation high school.
It was brought to light by a volunteer that there is 1 govt run high school plus 1 middle and 3 primary schools here run by Corporation and these schools could accommodate just 2800 students. He spoke about how one more school is needed now for the students. The lack of schools have made the families shift to other areas or send their kids to work or even marry off some teen girls etc.
These important issues mentioned above would not be there if one more school is present in this Kannagi Nagar. It was pointed out by a resident of Kannagi Nagar that her family from Pudupettai settled here in Kannagi Nagar 13 years back. She was unhappy that her 2 kids were unable to pursue their education after class 8. Truth is that in Pudhupettai where they lived previously there were many schools present.
According to Mr. Prince Gajendra Babu, an educationist, the government and corporations must formulate their policies taking into account the local conditions. He explained that as per the rules there must be one high school for every 7kms. It must be taken into note that Kannagi Nagar is a highly populated area and 2 schools could also be established here.
There is now concern about high drop out rates of the school students in the area and a space near the police station has been identified. This was brought out by Mr. Mathiyalagan, chairman of 15th zone.
