No more heavy rains in Chennai

There were showers till last night, slowing traffic along arterial roads like Anna Salai and Poonamallee High Road. Traffic was also hit in Guindy. While minor stagnation along some roads made life difficult for pedestrians, civic authorities received no reports of major inundation.
This comes even as meteorologists downgraded the outlook for rainfall in northern parts of TN, which experienced heavy downpours on Wednesday due to a low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The IMD predicted that Chennai would receive intermittent showers in the coming days as the weather system was no longer headed in the direction of the city.
