The stray dogs have been creating lots of issues for the Chennai residents is a well known fact.
In the latest press release from GCC it was mentioned that many complaints were received by GCC regarding the stray dogs menace in the corporation area. In this scenario, the public health dept belonging to the Chennai Corporation has been actively carrying out the work of catching the stray dogs and sterilising them to prevent breeding.
For catching the stray dogs in Chennai, there are now 16 special vehicles present and each vehicle has got one driver and 5 staff. As many as 64 nets are available for catching the stray dogs.
To prevent the breeding of dogs, these stray dogs are taken to the Dog Breeding Control Centre at Basin Bridge and Dog Breeding Center at Kannamapet etc under Thiru Vi Ka Nagar zone. Based on the suggestions for the veterinary doctors, a breed control operation is being done. From 23 rd to 29th of November, as many as 452 stray dogs have been caught and of those 319 dogs have been sterilised to prevent breeding. After giving the dogs rabies vaccination shots, the dogs are left in the places from where they were caught.
