In Chennai, the price of small onions is Rs 120 per kg now. This has been the rate in the last one week. As a result, the residents are feeling shocked and unhappy now. At the famous Koyambedu market in chennai, the price of small onions is Rs 120 per kg and the price of big onions is Rs 44 per kg.
Inflow in places like Ariyalur, Perambalur,Trichy, Dindigul etc have reduced now due to decreased harvesting. It was brought out by some vegetable sellers at Koyambedu market that the price would remain the same for the rest of November. Last month, the prices of small and big onions was Rs 90 per kg. The small onions and big onions play a huge role in the cooking in TN.
It must be taken into account that the exces price lasted for some days and it came down. Now, the price of onions has shot up once again.The price would increase further and this was according to some traders in the Koyambedu market. Carrot that was sold for Rs 30 per kg last week is now being sold at Rs60 per kg. Point is that the price of other vegetables like brinjal, beetroot,radish, vendakkai etc have also increased now.
