4 hospitals are functioning in Chennai to treat pets totally free of cost!!

Pets have become a part and parcel of the lives of many residents belonging to Chennai now.
There are currently 4 hospitals in Chennai under GCC and these hospitals provide free treatment for the pets. The Chennaites are requested to use these hospitals to treat their pets. The residents have been showing lots of interest in having pets at their homes now and this has been increasing every year. For the sake of protection and for happiness, the residents keep pets like dogs, cats, birds etc in their houses.
These pets would get affected with several health issues is known fact .Four pet treatment centres in GCC have been functioning at 4 places in Chennai under the Public Health Veterinary Department to treat the pets free of cost.
Various places where these pet treatment centres of GCC are functioning in Chennai are
- Thiru Vi Ka Nagar pet treatment centre, Pallavan Road, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar Chennai-11 sector-68, zone-6
- Nungambakkam pet treatment centre, school street, nungambakkam, Chennai-34 sector-110 zone-9
- Kannamapet pet treatment centre, Muthurangan Road, Kannamapet, Chennai-17 sector-141 zone-10
- Meenambakkm pet treatment centre, Nehru Highway, Chennai-114 sector-166 zone- 12
It is worthy to note that these pet treatment centres provide free treatment for the pets for all common health ailments. In addition, health based advice is also provided by the veterinary assistants in these centres. Information gathered is that in the last financial year 2020-21 as many as 21020 pets were treated in these 4 pet treatment centres belonging to GCC. Point to be noted is that the pets are also given anti-rabies vaccine at these 4 pet treatment centres for the goal of rabies- free Chennai.
As per the rules of GCC, those who own pets must have a pet license and these licences are provided in these pet treatment centres. The licences can be renewed once a year for Rs 50.
Functioning time of these centres:
These 4 pet treatment centres in Chennai are open from 8am to 3pm every day and this excludes Sundays and other Public holidays etc. The Chennai Corporation has requested the public having pets to make use of these 4 pet treatment centres.
