The recent electricity bill increase: Public hearing on 22nd August in Chennai!

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) informed on Saturday (6th August) of public hearings for TANGEDCO`s (Tamil Nadu Generation And Distribution Company) proposal to increase tariff. Further, UNESCO has invited comments on the proposal from all stakeholders.
The public hearings would be conducted on 16th August in Coimbatore, 18th August in Madurai and 22nd August in Chennai.
Consumers interested in participating in the above public hearings should register at the venue between 9 and 10.30 am on the above-mentioned dates. TANGEDCO and TNERC have uploaded the tariff-revision proposal on their websites.
TNERC informed, "All comments should be sent to the commission by August 22."
TNERC would consider granting TANGECO`s request for tariff revision from 1ST September ONLY AFTER THIS PROCESS!
S Neelakanta Pillai, founder of Citizen`s Contribution in Democracy, informed that there were 12 TANGEDCO circles across Tamil Nadu.
However, TNERC announced public hearings only in three districts. He demanded that at least ten public hearings be conducted throughout Tamil Nadu! Further, he has demanded details of the public hearings should be sent to consumers` mobile phones.
