Located at the centre of the city of Chennai, Children`s Park at Guindy is one of the highly visited places for relaxation in Chennai. This park is spread over an area of 22acres and is home for many birds, animals, spotted deers and a few rare species etc.
The sensational news is that Guindy Children`s Park would be redeveloped as a National Park and an amount of Rs 20 crores would be spent for this purpose. As per the press release, every year this park at Guindy attracts 8lakhs to 9 lakhs visitors.
To attract more people, the park needs to be improved with additional facilities. It is superb to note that more than 68000 students belonging to 1050 schools have taken part in the basic zoo exposure programme at the park every year. When Guindy Children`s Park gets renovated, then this space would become a prime centre for nature and conservation education awareness and orientation.
After renovation, the park would have superb facilities like improved animal closures, open play areas, cafeteria, children`s wildlife library, landscaping and visitor amenities etc.
The press release concluded that the renovated park would serve as a centre for excellence for ex-situ conservation of rehabilitated wildlife, primates, birds and reptiles with appropriate care etc.
