Calculation of the revised property tax has been an issue now for the many residents of Chennai as many are unhappy about the revised property tax.
Now from Thursday, GCC will be releasing online regarding the method that was used to calculate the property taxes for each of the 13lakhs assessees in Chennai. The Chennai Corporation website is www.chennaicorporation.gov.in and the assessees could get the details of tax computation by visiting this website.
To help the assessees get clarity about the property tax calculation, GCC is planning to take several initiatives. To provide explanation about the tax revisions of the assessees, the GCC has given training to its employees at helpline 1913.
Deputy Commissioner (Revenue and Finance), GCC, Mr. Mahajan explained that to clear doubts regarding the property tax calculations helpline 1913 staff have been trained well. He revealed that the IT team would be putting the computation sheets for property tax in two days.
The assessees would be able to view their property tax calculation by entering their property ID and OTP received on their registered mobile number on their phones. Percentage increase factor in the GO has been used to calculate the property tax. It is superb to mention that payment of property taxes has been made easy now.
