The first phase of the surveying activities has been taken up for the operation of a super-fast train between Chennai and Madurai.
The National Superfast Trains Commission, functioning under the Central Railway, jointly with the respective State Governments, executes the projects of operation of the super-fast train projects in the country!
Presently, this National Superfast Trains Commission has been executing the projects of operation of superfast trains in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and others!
A detailed Plan report has been prepared to run the superfast trains New Delhi-Varanasi, New Delhi-Ahmadabad, Varanasi-Howrah, and Chennai-Mysuru.
Further, the activities related to this project such as laying of tracks/improving the existing tracks, and the required infrastructure have all been undertaken!
In the first phase of this project in the country, the project of the Mumbai-Ahmadabad superfast express project is being expedited with all-out efforts!
In this situation, the initial activities of a project of running a superfast train between Chennai and Madurai have commenced! In this regard, the senior officials of Southern Railway shared:
�The initial activities for the operation of a superfast train between Chennai and Madurai have commenced as it is the route with a maximum number of passengers and in demand!
Activities such as enhancing the quality/strength of the existing track, removing unwanted curving tracks, the strength of the various bridges, the list of changes to be carried out, etc., have been taken up in full swing and once completed, a detailed report will be submitted to the Railways. Once approval for the project is granted by the Railways, a fully detailed project report will be prepared. After that, the execution of this project will be taken up!
Once these initial project activities are completed, it would be possible to run a superfast train between Chennai and Madurai. As such, the travel time will be cut short by 1 hour!�
