Sensational News!! Interlinking Broadway bus stand, High Court metro station and fort railway station etc in Chennai!!

Now, CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited has been given the responsibility by GCC to develop the famous Broadway bus stand in north Chennai into a transportation hub. It is learnt that CMRL would play a huge role in linking Broadway bus stand, High Court metro station and fort railway station under the redevelopment project. Sounds incredible right!!
The GCC has even thought about implementing the interlinking of these 3 above said by themselves by using its own fund, government allocation or by government approved loans etc before giving it to the CMRL.
According to an official from GCC, earlier it was thought of carrying out the project of interlinking through PPP pr public private partnership mode to generate revenue but the project was not viable for GCC and hence CMRL was handed over the responsibility.
In the future, at the Broadway bus stand a multi storeyed building would be built and there would be bus bays, parking lots for private vehicles. It must be noted that office and commercial space would be rented out to private firms. This was according to the detailed project report.
As the land belongs to GCC some part of the revenue that would be generated in the future by inter linking would go to the civic body but major share would go to CMRL. It is well known that CMRL has played a superb role in redeveloping the lawn and beautification of vacant space inside the Ripon Building premises as a part of the Central Square project.
