The good news is that much delayed construction of one arm of flyover at Velachery junction from Velachery bypass to Tambaram and another unidirectional flyover at Medavakkam from Tambaram towards Velachery is nearing completion. It was mentioned by an officer belonging to the highways department that the flyovers at Velachery and Medavakkam were the last of 7 projects that have been taken up between 2015 and 2017.
He then hinted that the construction of flyovers in places like Kilkattalai, Pallavaram, Kolathur-Retteri, Koyambedy, Vandalur have been completed already. Soon, work on the newly proposed bridges would start. Work on other bridges would begin by year end.
It is noteworthy that a DPR or detailed project report would be prepared for constructing 6 bridges and flyovers and an elevated 4-lane road from Light house to Guindy. Flyovers in the form of U shape are being built now at Indira Nagar junction and TIDEL park junction on the Rajiv Gandhi Salaii at a cost of Rs 108.13 crores. The highways officer highlighted that the proposed flyover at Madhya Kailash junction was in the pre-construction stage only and soon the civil work would start there. This flyover would be built at an amount of Rs 46.54 crores.

In addition, the state highways department is also thinking of widening 2 arms of Padi flyover at Rs 100 crores. Based on the DPR prepared in the past, few projects have been changed.
It is said that the elevated corridor between Saidapet- Teynampet would reduce the travel time by 30 minutes on the Anna Salai. By this, connectivity to the airport would become more.
