Chennai based Apollo Hospitals is now making amazing news for having successfully performed robotic assisted minimally invasive coronary artery bypass surgery or CABG on a 93 year old person.
The main advantage of this robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery is that it allows the patients to return to their normal lives considerably faster when compared to the normal bypass surgery.
It is superb to note here that the surgeons who do this surgery would have greater vision, precision plus accuracy and control and the patients too would have less discomfort only. Less scarring and improved respiration etc would be there also for those undergoing this robotic surgery.
It was later brought out by a release from Apollo Hospital that Dr. Yousuf consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and team perform the complex robotic assisted minimally invasive cardiac surgery of those who are above the age of 70. It added that the 93 year old patient was the oldest till date to undergo this robotic assisted minimally invasive coronary artery bypass graft. It is possible to treat those with single or multiple vessel coronary artery disease with this sensational new procedure. Patients would be able to return back to their normal lives in just 2 weeks. This was according to Suneetha Reddy, MD, Apollo Group.
