Amazing news from areas like Valluvar Kottam, Korrukkupet, China Nolambur etc in Chennai

Places like Valluvar kottam, Korukkupet, Chinna Nolamabur, Jeevan Nagar and Kilpauk Gardens are always bustling with heavy traffic. To ease the traffic congestion, GCC would be building bridges in these 5 localities in Chennai.

Mr. K.N Nehru, minister for municipal administration and water supply in the State Assembly yesterday mentioned that a bridge would be built at Valluvar Kottam Junction in Nungambakkam at a cost of Rs 98 crores for easing the traffic congestion.

It must be noted that Chennai Metro Rail Limited or CMRL had proposed new metro stations along the proposed corridor passing through the Valluvar Kottam High Road in Nungambakkam. A study was conducted by the civic body and it was found that the number of passenger car units that passed through this Valluvar Kottam junction was 10000. Therefore, GCC has decided to construct a bridge there. Important point is that this project might not require land acquisition.

To replace level �crossing 2B on the Manali Road at Korukkupet in north Chennai, GCC would build a bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 105 crores. Connecting PH Road and Union Road, a bridge would be constructed across Cooum near Chinna Nolambur and an amount of Rs 120 crores would be spent for this new bridge.

At an estimated cost of Rs 4 crores, a bridge has been planned in Jeevan Nagar also. It is noteworthy that in Aspiran Garden Colony in Kilpauk Gardens in Chennai a bridge would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crores. Information is that an amount of Rs 25 crores would be used by GCC to beautify the space beneath the flyovers in Chennai. Mr. K. N. Nehru concluded that for the sake of persons who are differently able Greater Chennai Corporation would construct a pathway in the famous Marina Beach.
