The airfares have become more due to the increase in jet fuel hike. In the last few days, the prices of aviation turbine fuel have skyrocketed by about 18%. Truth is that the airfares from Chennai to all metros across India are very high and it will increase even more in the coming days. Information is that airfares from Chennai to New Delhi have touched Rs 8000 per person and it would become as high as Rs 11000 also. Few days back, many commuters travelled on flights from Chennai to Bengaluru for Rs 1500 for a single person and now it costs Rs 4500 for a single person. Chennai to Hyderabad and Mumbai have also shot up now.
It was brought out by Mr. Jeyasekaran of Travel Agents Association of India that travelling to other districts in the state has also increased now. He hinted that those business persons and passengers belonging to the middle income groups who take last minute flights would find it very tough now. Planning well in advance is a must now to travel in the flights.
It must be noted that the ATF or Air Turbine Fuel price in Chennai is one of the highest in India after Kolkata. The price of one litre of ATF is Rs 1.14lakhs. Point is that in Delhi ATF costs Rs 1.10lakhs and Rs 1.09 lakhs in Mumbai.
