Know about the first suburban train service in Chennai in the new third line!!

Just a few months back, the third line project from Tambaram to Chengalpet was completed and grabbed the attention. On Tuesday, 1st March 2022, first suburban train service was operated by the southern railways belonging to the Chennai division in this route. It must be noted that the railway authorities were in a dilemma regarding running the suburban train service on the third line though it was finished a few months back itself. The reason for that was due to an engineering issue at the railway over-bridge between the stations Tambaram and Perungalathur.
Issue with the railway track alignment at the ROB 95 located between Tambaram and Perungalathur railway stations was brought to light by a senior officer belonging to the Chennai division of the southern railways.
The railway authorities were of the view that operating suburban trains would create safety issues for the commuters. Information gathered is that a slight change in the track alignment made by the engineering department made them successfully operate the suburban train services on the new third track. It is important to note that the suburban trains operated from Chennai Beach to Chengalpet reached the destination within 1 hour after leaving Tambaram railway station at 4:30pm in the evening.
