Posted on: 25/Feb/2022 10:03:11 AM
Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital or RGGGH is a highly popular hospital in Chennai and many people go to this hospital to get treatment for various health issues. For the last 2 years, many Covid-19 patients have been admitted to this hospital for treatment.

The sensational piece of news now is that for the last 24 hours ever since the Coronavirus pandemic began there has been no Covid-19 admission in this hospital in Chennai. This has caught the attention of many now. As many as 2050 beds have been allotted for Covid-19 patient treatment in this hospital. Just a few days back, it was revealed that the fresh or daily Covid-19 cases have come down below 200 after 55 days in Chennai.

One important fact is that in this third Coronavirus infection wave the number of patients admitted in the hospital was less when compared to the second infection wave. Decrease in the number of fresh cases has also brought down the active caseload also now. This was mentioned by Dr. Theranirajan, dean of RGGGH.

He added that in the third Coronavirus infection wave there were just 45 to 50 admissions in a day in this hospital and only on 10th January the hospital witnessed 304 admissions due to the infection. Currently, 12 patients are getting treated for Covid-19 infection in this hospital. It is true that in the third infection wave those persons above the age of 60 and those with co-morbid conditions in them and were not vaccinated became sick and got hospitalised for treatment

It was brought out later by the dean of RGGGH that there were few hospitalizations in the third wave when compared to the second wave. He threw light on how RGGGH triaged effectively and segregated asymptomatic persons and those with Co-morbid conditions according to Covid-19 triage and protocol treatment.
