The increase in the Coronavirus as well as Omicron variant has led to the closure of schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu in January and these educational institutions would reopen from 1st of February onwards. Whether to conduct the classes virtually or in-person has been the major issue.

In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that the educational institutions could take their own decision regarding the conduct of the classes depending on the Coronavirus situation.

After discussing with the health experts, a decision would be taken on the reopening of kindergarten schools in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, minister for school education has already appealed to the parents regarding sending their children to the schools without any fear.

It is learnt that the school managements have been asked not to force the students to attend direct physical classes from day one onwards. The number of Coronavirus cases has decreased and due to this reason the direct classes would not be conducted on the rotation basis etc. In addition to this, most of the eligible students in the 15 to 18 age groups have received atleast one dose of vaccination. Soon, a new schedule for the revision tests for the board exam students would be announced. The school education minister spoke about how the teachers have been asked to complete the pending portions of classes 10 to 12 before the board examinations. Board exams might be held in the month of April or in May.

It is important to mention that after the review meeting conducted by the CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin the Tamil Nadu government has given permission to reopen schools and colleges from 1st of February onwards. From Tuesday onwards, more than 45000 schools including private institutions will resume physical classes in Tamil Nadu.
