The Coronavirus infection has been on the rise in Chennai now. The health officials have mentioned that only symptomatic patients are being treated in the hospitals in Chennai and others who are asymptomatic are under home isolation or home quarantine now.

It was later revealed by dean of KMCH in Chennai, Dr. R. Shanthimalar that the hospital is treating just Covid-19 symptomatic patients and non-Covid emergency patients. She added that those patients who are asymptomatic are recommended for home isolation. She threw light on the presence of 50 new Covid-19 infected patients including Omicron variant affected who have been getting treatment in KMCH. The hospital is also admitting those who show mild symptoms but with co-morbid conditions like BP, diabetes, kidney issues etc. It is learnt that if the patients do not show any Covid-19 symptoms on the 4th or 5th day then they are discharged from the hospital. These patients are asked to be under home isolation. The dean then spoke about how oxygen support was not needed much for the affected patients at this point of time. There are adequate stocks available at this hospital if the Covid-19 cases increase in the coming days.

Those persons who havent taken even one dose of vaccination are at high risk of getting Covid-19 infection than those who have taken the vaccination. Information is that there are atleast 5 lakhs persons who havent yet taken even one dose. In the last week, the hospitals in Chennai have been receiving many Covid-19 infected patients.

Dr. Sabaresan, belonging to Be Well Hospitals spoke about how when the cases increase then healthcare workers would be the ones who would get affected first. The hospital had made sure that all the health workers got vaccinated. He then mentioned that if any patient has a cold, sore throat, cough, fever etc for 2 days then Covid-19 tests were recommended for them so that their condition does not become critical. Truth is that this hospital has been treating 20 Covid 19 patients with mild symptoms. He concluded that due to the sudden surge in the Coronavirus cases now separate Covid-19 wards have been set up at this hospital
