Jewellery Loan Waiver: Another Opportunity!

The citizens, who have availed of jewellery loans but failed to present the proper details of the Family Ration Card and the Aadhar card, will be given another opportunity!
The Tamil Nadu State Minister for the Department of Cooperatives, I. Periyaswamy, has informed that a second opportunity is being given to the citizens who failed to give proper proof of their Family Ration Cards and Aadhar Cards. On resubmission, the documents will be thoroughly verified again and based on this review, a decision will be taken on waiving the jewellery loan!
The Cooperatives Minister shared in this regard:
�The main objective of the State Government of Tamil Nadu is to ensure that the citizens truly belonging to the economically extremely backward status MUST benefit with the waiver of the jewellery loans!
It has been established that huge maloperations, amounting to Crores of Rupees, had taken place in the previous government on this issue of jewellery loans!
After review, only 10% of the total of 10.18 Lakhs jewellery loans qualifies for a waiver!
Further, it is to be noted that out of the 48.86 Lakhs jewellery loans, 7.65 Lakhs jewellery loans are above 400 grams of gold!
In the case of 21.63 Lakhs jewellery loans, family members of the same ration card have pledged over 400 grams of gold!
Regarding the balance of 2.20 Lakhs jewellery loans have been procured through maloperations!
As such, rules and regulations were not followed in 15.2 Lakhs jewellery loans!
Out of the total of 2252226 jewellery loan beneficiaries, presently, only 1018066 lakhs jewellery loan cases are eligible for jewellery loan waiver!�
