31st December - Last date for filing Income Tax Returns!

With 31st December declared as the last date for filing Income Tax Returns for the financial year 2020-2021, so far, on 27th December alone, 15.49 Lakhs Income Tax Returns have been filed.
In total, so far, over 4.67 Crores Income Tax returns have been filed.
Earlier, the last date for filing Income Tax Returns for the Financial year 2020-2021 had been declared as 30th June. Later, this was extended up to 30th September.
AT this stage, there were numerous technical issues encountered in the modified official website of the Central Department of Income Tax.
Hence, the citizens filing IT Returns faced hardships. Subsequently, the last date for filing Income Tax Returns was extended up to 31st December.
As such, so far, 4.67 Crores Income Tax Returns have been filed as of date. Out of this, 2.5 Crores Income Tax Returns have been filed under category ITR-1 and 1.70 Crores of Income Tax Returns have been filed under category ITR-4.
