Why are the residents in the southern suburbs of Chennai unhappy now?

The residents belonging to places in and around Medavakkam in Chennai faced many issues due to flooding in recent times. Just when it seemed that their lives had turned normal, these residents are now facing the issue of voltage fluctuation now.
It was mentioned by a resident of Vignarajapuram near Medavakkam that there has been frequent voltage fluctuation in the locality. The cold climate now has made many here not to switch on their air-conditioners and due to this the appliance was not affected.
There were also frequent power cuts in the last few days here and this was brought to the notice of the officials of the electricity board. Another resident spoke about how there was no meter reading and he has been paying additional charges.
Steps are being taken to strengthen the transformers at the outskirts to provide uninterrupted power supply for the residents. This was according to a senior official belonging to Tangedco. He threw light on how based on the complaints received steps were taken to rectify the issue.
