Pregnant and lactating mothers would be highly benefited by this!!
On Friday, 17th December, the health minister, Mr. M. Subramanian mentioned that SMS alerts would be sent to pregnant and lactating mothers regarding the vaccination schedule to help them to follow the schedule. Point is that an amount of RS 22 lakhs has been allotted.
It is now said that the TN health department would send SMS alerts to all pregnant and lactating mothers to remind them about vaccination of mother and newborn against various diseases and infections that have been listed under the Universal Immunization Programme.
By this programme, about 10.11 lakh pregnant mothers and 9.23lakh children get benefitted every year and the vaccines protect the children against 12 diseases is known. According to the Health Information Management Programme HMIS report, it was confirmed that in TN about 95% of children have received all the vaccines. It is learnt that 89.2% of mothers have been vaccinated.
Under the PICME in TN, SMS alerts about vaccinations would be sent 25 times and this was revealed by the health minister. By this, 100% vaccination would be ensured for pregnant women.
It is worthy to note that SMS alerts would be sent based on registration within 12 weeks of pregnancy 5 reviews in the 16th, 20th, 26th, 30th and 34th week. The remaining 4 alerts would be sent during 36th, 37th, 38th and 39th week. Important piece of information is that 2 SMS alerts would be sent when the grant under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy assistance scheme is credited.
