Total power cut in these Chennai localities due to very heavy rains!!

Heavy rains, flooding and power cuts are related to one another is a known fact!!
Heavy rains in the Chennai city has led to the power cuts in many parts belonging to Central and north Chennai localities on Wednesday. Truth is that the power supply had to be cut as a precautionary measure as the streets in several localities in Chennai were flooded.
It was brought to light by a data from Tangedco that as on the afternoon on Thursday as many as 61700 consumers in Chennai were without power supply. The minister for electricity Mr. Senthil Balaji made his presence felt in several places in Chennai that had water logging. He spoke about how due to the availability of enough manpower the power supply was resumed. Truth is that those hospitals where the power supply was not there would be given huge priority.
Various important localities in Chennai that were worst affected by power cuts were West Mambalam, Pulianthope, Perambur, Velachery, Mudichur and Madipakkam etc. As per an officer belonging to Tangedco it was risky to resume power supply in these localities. Information is that by Thursday evening power supply has resumed in most localities except those that have been flooded by the recent very heavy rains.
