Mettur level increases by 2 ft suddenly now!!

The continuous downpour has now led to the sudden increase by 2feet in water levels in the Mettur dam. The total storage capacity of this dam is 120 feet and the water level now has gone up to 116ft.
On Saturday, this dam received 15740 cusecs of water and on Sunday the inflow increased to 29380 at 8am in the morning due to heavy rains. On Saturday, the water level here was 114.46 feet but it went to 116.1 on Sunday. It was brought to light by some officers that 100 cusecs were released through Cauvery and another 400 cusecs of water through the canal.
As per officer of PWD, heavy rains have brought down the need of water for irrigation purposes. He hinted that the Mettur dam would get filled up in a day or two as the inflow is higher than the discharge. Truth is that the storage levels here stood at 87TMC against the capacity of 93 TMC.
It must be noted that the Bhavanisagar dam is just 1.2 feet less to reach its full capacity of 105 feet. On Sunday the water level in the dam reached 103.80 feet.
The officials have mentioned that with the rains pouring continuously and more rains to come the dam might become full in another couple of days.
