There are 34773 fair price ration shops in the districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. Fair price ration shops are shops that have been issued licences to distribute essential commodities for the people.
As more people have applied for new ration cards, the government of Tamil Nadu is taking steps to increase the number of ration shops. It must be noted that there are many who cannot go directly to the fair price ration shops to buy items.
It is now revealed that old age persons or senior citizens and differently able persons would be able to get items even without going to these ration shops. These persons could get the applications from the ration shops or through online. Using the website tnpds.com, the applications can be submitted.
Point is that the details like name of the family head, family card number, family members etc must be filled in the applications. The reason for not being able to come to ration shops directly must also be mentioned and relevant documents must be attached for this. These persons must visit the fair price ration shops directly and give details regarding the name of the person who would be buying the items and family card number etc. The application must be submitted at the Taluk office only.
The documents submitted would then be verified by the staff and a permission certificate would be issued. Afterwards, there would not be any need to go to the ration shops directly and items can be got easily through another person.
