Surprising news about the botanical garden in Madhavaram in Chennai

If you have thought that in north Chennai just industries only exist and there is no space for recreation at all, then this piece of news would surprise you!!
Madhavaram belonging to north Chennai is making news now. The horticultural park located at Madhavaram Milk Colony in Madhavaram is one of the large urban lung spaces. It is now said that this park would have exotic plant species and a nursery.
Since the year 2018, the botanical garden here on a 22acre land has been one of the important places of recreating for the residents of several localities.
It must be taken into account that coracle rides in the 2.5acre fresh water pond in this park began recently. During the weekends, the demand for the rides has increased here and nearly 100 visitors enjoy these rides on Sundays. In the future, this park would have more greenery and facilities for the visitors would be improved. This was pointed out by the horticultural department.
Visitors going to the park would be surprised to see about 800 Palmyra trees and 700 species of ornamental and medicinal plants. The interesting piece of information is that this pond is also a groundwater recharge source as a rain water harvesting system was connected to it. Flowering beds might be added to the palmyra tree islands in the pond. Soon, ducks would also be reared here. To encourage the visitors to buy medicinal or herbal plants, a nursery has been proposed. During the weekdays, this horticultural park receives 600 visitors and it goes to 1000 on the weekends.
