Chennaites want these toll plazas to be removed now!!

In Chennai, There are toll plazas in Vanagaram, Puzhal and Mathur (Manali) and the motorists pay toll fees. Recently, the toll plazas at Rajiv Gandhi Salai were removed is known.
It is now said that the motorists want the toll plazas in Vanagaram, Puzhal and Mathur also to be removed. Truth is that the residents belonging to these places are now hoping that the government would take steps to meet their demand.
It was mentioned by a social activist of Manali Mr. Mahalingam that the Mathur toll plaza was within the limits of GCC and it could be removed. He added that protests were held ever since the toll plaza was constructed here in 2017. It is important to mention that this toll plaza is present on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai in the IRR of Chennai. This toll plaza at Mathur came up with the aim of collecting toll fee from the containers carrying trailers going towards the port. The toll passes were not issued to the locals and they were forced to pay the toll fee. Mr. Mahalingam later spoke about how the government should collect toll fees at the entrance to the port and not here.
According to Mr. Jude Matthews of Puzhal it was clear that the residents would have to go through the toll plaza at Surapet in Puzhal. He added that if the residents wanted to go to nearby Sholavaram then they had to pass through RedHills plaza. He was of the view that all three toll plazas that are within 50km radius must be removed.
It was brought out by the general secretary of Federation of Maduravoyal Residents Welfare Associations Mr. Tirumala Adimai that many protests were carried out to remove the toll plaza at Vanagaram. He pointed out that traffic congestion at the toll plaza has been an issue for a long time.
