Of late, the Chennai based private hospitals have been sending back the patients admitted to their wards due to shortage of oxygen with reserves bound to be there for just a few hours. This has caught the attention of many.
The demand for oxygen is higher now than the production and due to this reason the oxygen vendors could not supply the required amount of oxygen to the hospitals. It is true that few patients who were admitted to Lifeline Rigid Hospitals in Chennai were asked to go to other hospitals due to oxygen shortage.
It was later mentioned by a caretaker of a Covid-19 patient that the hospital told them to look out for another hospital as the patient was critical and the oxygen supply could be available for just 4 hours. Point is that this patient was retained by the hospital as the government authorities arranged oxygen supply for the patient. After the government officials have arranged for refilling of the oxygen cylinders, the issue has been sorted out. This was according to Dr. Natesh, vice-president of Lifeline Rigid Hospitals. It must be noted that patients have been asked by various hospitals to arrange for their oxygen cylinders as the hospitals could not arrange.
