Details on the availability of beds to be kept ready for the new corona patients!

It has been informed on behalf of the Department of The health of the State Government of Tamil Nadu that out of the 17813 beds kept ready for the incoming corona patients, 5210 beds are occupied!

The Health Department of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has further announced that there are 30 hospitals exclusively functioning for the coronavirus patients � 5 Government Hospitals, 11 Smaller Hospitals, and 14 Patient-care Centres.

There are 1618 beds allotted for the coronavirus patients in the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. 1079 beds are presently occupied and 539 beds are unoccupied.

1200 beds are available in the Chennai Metro City Stanley Government General Hospital and 655 beds are occupied. 63 beds are available in Chennai Omandhurar Hospital, and 40 beds are available in the Guindy Government Hospital.

Apart from the above, for those patients not requiring treatment but need to be in hospital, beds are arranged in 11 small hospitals in Chennai Metro City. These small hospitals are located in KK Nagar, Tondiarpettai, Anna Nagar, Egmore, Ramapuram, and Tambaram areas in the Chennai Metro City.

There are a total of 1800 available in these 11 small hospitals and presently, 795 beds are occupied.

With some of the college complexes having been converted into corona care centres, it is learnt that these will be used for the patients who have only mild symptoms and of a younger age group.

There are 14 corona care centres set up including Jerusalem Engineering College, Chennai IIT, Anna University, Bharathi Women�s College, St. Joseph College, Guru Nanak College, Velammal Engineering College, Chennai University Students, and Victoria Students� Centre, Hostel. Further, as per the report from the Covid Control Centre, 1482 patients have been admitted so far.  Further, there are 10163 unoccupied beds.

Apart from the above, there are more than 40000 beds with oxygen facility kept ready throughout the Tamil Nadu State. In the 36 Medical College Hospitals throughout the state in different districts, there 25987 beds with oxygen facility kept ready.

In Chennai Metro City alone, there are 10568 beds ready with an oxygen facility.  Out of these, 1897 oxygen beds are unoccupied.
