COVID infection has spread rapidly in this most important zone in Chennai

Residents belonging to Teynampet zone would feel shocked by this piece of information!!
As on Friday, the highest number of active Covid-19 cases was clocked in the Teynampet zone belonging to GCC. It is shocking to mention that at present this zone has got more than 2000 active cases. The number of cases on an upswing in Chennai in recent times is well known.
It must be noted that the Teynampet zone has got 2396 active cases and 539 deaths. As many as24034 persons have recovered from the infection in this zone.
The Coronavirus infection has spread rapidly in this zone and this has been revealed by the fact that last week this zone had 1325 active cases. As many as 150 streets of this zone have Covid-19 cases now. It is learnt that the fever surveillance have been strengthened in the streets belonging to the Teynampet zone. The residents of this zone have been advised to get vaccinated to get protection from the infection. This was according to a corporation official. He added that staff have been instructed to bring those who meet the eligibility criteria for vaccination.
Nearly 250 fever camps are being held every day and about 10000 persons are getting covered. This was according to an official belonging to GCC. This was mentioned by the officials.
It must be taken into note that in June and in July 2020 about 30000 persons attended fever camps and it has reduced to less than 10000 now. Information is that in the last 1 week 3767 camps were held and 3092 were found symptomatic. In the Chennai city, there are now 22420 active cases and GCC has been keeping an eye on the zones such as Royapuram, Ambattur, Kodambakkam, Valsarawakkam, Thiru Vi - Ka Nagar etc that are witnessing increase in the infection.
