The restrictions imposed on the number of passengers travelling in autos at a time in Chennai are worrying many auto drivers. It is revealed that these drivers have appealed to the TN government to reconsider the restrictions imposed.

It must be taken into account that the new restrictions have come at a time when auto drivers have been facing heat over the increase in the fuel prices plus limited number of passengers. The lockdown in 2020 has led to severe impact on the lives of the auto drivers are known to us. The auto drivers haven’t come out of last year’s impact yet. This was as per Mr. Balasubramaniam working president Tamil Nadu Auto Thozhilalar Sammelanam. He was of the view that TN government must allow 3 passengers as per the seating capacity.

It was pointed out by another auto driver from Anna Nagar that the majority of them did not receive any financial aid from the TN government announced for the welfare board members. He threw light on how it was difficult to meet the needs as the fuel prices have increased and the daily earnings have come down also. He concluded that many banks have started seizing their autos for the non-payment of dues.
