With the recently announced restrictions to be imposed from tomorrow (Saturday, 10th April), to facilitate the public to travel without crowd congestion, it has been announced that an additional 400 buses will be operated in the Chennai Metro City by the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation from tomorrow.
In a notification released by the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation in this regard, it is mentioned:
�Presently, to prevent the spread of the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic, various activities have been initiated and undertaken by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. In this trend, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has declared new restrictions to be imposed. Especially, permission has been denied for standing passengers in the local and outstation buses.
As per the present operations, the buses run by the State Transport Corporations have 44 seats and 25 standing passengers. Now, the standing passengers will not be permitted.
As such, to facilitate the public to travel without congestion, 300 to 400 additional buses will be operated from tomorrow *Saturday, 10th April).
Additional buses are operated especially in routes which are travelled by a larger number of passengers, such as Chengalpattu, Gooduvancherry, Tambaram, Kenambakkam, Semmnacherry, Perumbakkam, Manali, Kannagi Nagar, Perambur, Ambattur, Avadi, Thiruvotriyur, and Sengundram, additional buses will be operated in the peak hours in the morning as well as the evening.�
