It is known that GCC has been keen in setting up of Covid Care Centres to treat Covid-19 infection. The news now is that the residents belonging to Athipattu of Ambattur Assembly constituency do not want any Covid Care Centre. They have gone to such an extent now that they might even boycott the upcoming elections if a Covid Care Centre was set up in their apartment

It is shocking to mention that some residents got Covid-19 infection after the launch of Covid Care Centre in their locality. Point is that 5 blocks of their apartment has been converted into Covid Care Centre by the GCC. It has been brought out by some residents that the officials have not allowed them to meet the Corporation Commissioner at the Ripon Buildings. The residents wanted to request the commissioner regarding the prevention of infection spread in their apartment.

It was later brought to light by a resident that the inmates of the Covid care Centre here were throwing their used facemasks outside the building. The Covid- 19 infection here has increased due to this. He added that the asymptomatic Covid patients come out to drink tea from the tea shops. It must be taken into note that the same person who visits the Covid Care Centre supplies water to the apartment complex. The officials have been informed about this.

It must not be forgotten that last week GCC had set up a Covid Care Centre in the Athipattu TNHB residential place near Ambattur without prior notice to the residents. All the residents vacated their flats and organised protest on the streets and this after protesting for a week. It is revealed that the residents would surrender their voter ID cards and boycott the elections on 6th of April. This care centre could accommodate 5000 persons and had over 100 patients.
