T. Nagar multi-level car parking - In future those who park their cars on streets at nights can use this facility

The multi-level car parking in T. Nagar has reached a daily occupancy of 50% now. Last week, this multi-level car parking facility was opened for the public is known to us. This new facility has got a capacity to accommodate 222 cars and 500 two wheelers and nearly 100 cars are being parked on the weekends. An amount of Rs 30,000 has been collected as parking fee till now. For an hour, the parking fee for a car is Rs 20 and for two wheelers is Rs 5.
It must be recalled that on 3rd March 2021 this car parking facility was opened and about 20 cars were parked. This has slowly increased and now 100 cars are being parked every day. This was mentioned by the officers. As there is no subsidy in the parking rates, the owners of the shops and other business establishments are still not parking their vehicles here. A consultant for the corporation�s city smart mission, Mr. Haja hinted that the response was lukewarm. He threw light on how the people have been hesitant as there are no facilities of this type in Chennai. He was hoping that more people would be using the facility in the future. It is amazing to note that parking cars in this new facility would take just a minute and the rates are less when compared to others.
Various features of this facility are its superb lighting, clean toilets, feeding rooms for mothers and complete generator back-up etc. In the future, the shop owners would be able to use this facility as the GCC has been working on a system under which there would be offers and subsidies to the owners. This was mentioned by a senior official belonging to the corporation. In addition, those residents who park their cars on the streets in the nights could also us this facility.
